RIVER
THE LIBERTY IN THE RIVER EXPERIENCE
Liberty in the River is such a versatile shoot, it works for anyone. The river for us, is a beautiful way to celebrate a healing process. Wash away all the busy crap of life as you spread your water wings, and feel invigorated as you flick your hair back. Cooling, natural water and being in the forest has an amazing ability to make you feel calmer, stronger and ready for whatever life has to throw at you. Liberty in the River is a peaceful, beautiful shoot celebrating healing and reconnecting with the world around us. One of our most popular and iconic Liberty shoots, it is perfect for your first Location shoot, and can be as sexy, natural or goddess-like as you wish. If you want something a little different, add Pyrotechnics for just £29 and enjoy some beautiful, customised coloured smoke images for a fierce, magical edge to the river shoot.
THINGS TO BRING:
-
Lingerie - whether it be lacy knickers and a cute bra, that pretty bodysuit you've always wanted, or that set that has been in your wardrobe FOREVER and you've never had a chance to wear, a beautiful set of lingerie can never go wrong in our river shoots. Colours like red, white or black are gorgeous in the river, but pretty much any colours work in the beautiful landscape we have, so bring as much or as little as you'd like, and we can always help you choose on the day.
-
Kimonos and Cover-Ups - they're entirely optional, but if you're not completely sure you're ready to bare all in the river, a floaty kimono or lacy cover-up could give you that little confidence boost when you begin your shoot, and you can always take it off half way through.
-
Dresses - we don't usually shoot normal dresses in the river, but will always have some of our white lace ones with us. If you want a few pretty photos on the riverbank, or have a dress your feel would just look amazing, bring them along. It's always best to bring more and not use them, than to regret leaving it at home.
-
Towel and/or bathrobe - once you've been in the river with one of our photographers, it might be a little while before the next one is ready. Make sure you bring a towel to dry off, but a bathrobe can keep you nice and snug while you're waiting.
-
River shoes/socks or sliders. Not all of us like being bare-footed in a river, and feel free to bring along some river shoes, socks or sliders to wear as you walk across. They'll keep your feet nice and safe from rocky floors and you can always take them off if need be. River shoes/socks can be found at beach shops or online easily, and tend to be under £10. You can wear flip flops, but if they come off easily you may end up chasing them down a river!
-
Snacks - completely optional, but when you're waiting on the riverbank, it can be lovely to have a little picnic. We'll bring the Prosecco, but a few snacks can make the shoot into a little day out for you.
-
Water and Sunscreen. There will always be shade at our river shoots, but bring water to stay hydrated when it's hot, and feel free to bring sunscreen if you're worried about the burn. Who knows, when you're waiting for a photographer, you might get a tan too.
WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DAY
Once you've booked your shoot, we'll give you a call before the day and answer any questions you have, and have a chat about how to make it the perfect shoot for you. When you arrive on the day, you will be greeted by our lovely Liberty team who will go through what you want out of the shoot, and what you are planning to wear. We'll have a chat and go through how the shoot will go. Then you will have your 1-on-1 make-up session with the amazing Georgina Chambers' make-up team. When you're all made up and feeling your best, we will begin the group woman's circle. Our woman's circle is designed to give you a safe space to talk about whatever you would like to say; why you came along to a Liberty, what you want to take from it, or stories about yourself and who you are, or who you want to be. The circle works not just as a safe space for you, but as a way for our photographer's to connect with who you are, in order to give you the best experience they can, and capture you in the truest way possible. We have two photographers present at each location shoot. Carrie will be photographing you in the landscape; you'll get iconic Liberty shots such as water wings, hair flick and more. AND if you have chosen to add Pyrotechnics to your shoot, she'll be photographing you as coloured smoke surrounds you, in a beautiful and fiery new shot. Then Aurora will take you for some close-ups, including our 'ssh', 'playing with my reflection' and 'Ophelia' shots. Both of them are always open to new ideas, and can personalise your poses to guarantee a beautiful, versatile gallery that celebrates you. Our photographers have significant knowledge of poses, so don't worry if you're nervous in front of the camera, or worried over how you'll look; we're all trained to get your best sides, and to capture you looking as wonderful as you are. When you're not being photographed, you can sit along the riverbank with the rest of the lovely ladies and our Liberty Host Holly, who will hold your hand through the whole process, and make sure you feel comfortable and fabulous throughout the day!
Once the shoot is over, you'll be invited to our studio within a couple of weeks to view your images. The galleries will consist of 30-40 photographs, and our package prices can be found here. But the Liberty experience doesn't stop there - you'll be invited to our Liberty VIPs group on facebook, where you can share your new beautiful images, make new connections and see all our latest and upcoming events. Blow them up massive and make a wall of you, and you can always come back anytime for another shoot with £50 off our packages, because we know Liberty can be so addictive. Once you've seen yourself, you'll want even more. Book now and strengthen the journey of celebrating you, and we can't wait to meet you!
A LIBERTY IN THE RIVER STORY

Self love and confidence never came easy to me. I suffered sexual abuse as a child and subsequently battled an eating disorder trying to come to terms with everything. Over the years I have tried different styles of counselling, hypnotherapy and sessions with psychologists, but nothing had ever made me feel whole again. Since having a child and settling in my career I thought it was time to seek help again. I saw ‘Liberty’ by chance and thought it was worth a try. Nothing could have prepared me for how I was going to feel at the shoot. The moment I met the girls I was at ease. Getting into the water was the most freeing experience and no therapy has come close to making me feel as beautiful and natural as I did. These aren’t just photos.. these are me.
